Associate Professor Cuiwen WANG attended the inaugural China-Latin America Human Rights Roundtable in Brazil

      On September 10, 2024, the inaugural China-Latin America Human Rights Roundtable was successfully held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Co-hosted by the China Society for Human Rights Studies, Renmin University of China, and Fluminense Federal University of Brazil, the event attracted over 120 senior officials, scholars, and representatives from social organizations, think tanks, and media from 17 countries, including China, Brazil, and Argentina, etc. Themed "Cultural Diversity and Pathways to Human Rights Realization," the conference featured multiple sub-forums. Associate Professor Cuiwen WANG, a faculty member of International Relations in ZSG and a researcher at the Human Rights Research Center, was invited to attend the event.

At the sub-forum titled "Contributions of China and Latin America to Global Human Rights Civilization," Professor WANG delivered a speech titled "The Southern Origins and Historical Evolution of International Human Rights Norms," in which she emphasized the crucial role of Latin American countries in advancing human rights development. During the conference, Professor WANG also participated in an exclusive interview with the "East-West Quest" program by China News Service, where she discussed the pioneering role of Southern nations in shaping the UN human rights agenda.

This roundtable marks the first institutionalized exchange between China and Latin American countries in the field of international human rights.
