Politics and Administration

Training Objective: This major is mainly designed to train the students to possess basic theories, professional knowledge and management skills in contemporary politics and administrative management with Marxism literacy. It aims to foster the superior personnel who can be competent to administrative management work in party and government offices, news and cultural institutions, enterprises and public institutions, and social organizations with the ability of engaging in the research and teaching about the politics and administration.

Main Courses: Principles of Political Science, the History of Chinese Political Thought, the History of Western Political Thought, the History of Chinese Political System, Comparative Political System, Political Methodology, Research Method of Social Sciences, Contemporary Government and Politics in China, Developmental Politics, Administration Science, Policy Principles and Analysis, Personnel Management and others.

Continue Education Direction: MPA or secondary discipline master's and doctoral degree programs in Political Theory, Chinese and Foreign Political System, International Politics, International Relations, Diplomacy, Administrative Management and other political and public administration subjects.

International Politics

Training Objective: This major is mainly designed to train the students to possess solid basic theories and professional knowledge in international politics, international law, politics and international relations with Marxism literacy. It aims to foster the senior personnel who can go in for diplomacy, foreign affairs, external propaganda, teaching and research in government sectors, enterprises and public institutions, higher learning institutions, research department and others.

Main Courses: Apart from the basic courses of Politics subject (such as Principles of Political Science, Politics Methodology, the History of Western Political Thought and others), it also offers other professional courses like the History of International Relations, Theory of International Politics, International Political Economics, International Organization and International Law, Comparative Political System, Diplomacy, Contemporary Chinese External Relations and Diplomatic policy, and others.

Public Administration

Training Objective: This major is mainly designed to train the students to get the basic knowledge in administration science, public policy science, government and other aspects with Marxism literacy, master the basic policies, laws and regulations of administrative management formulated by the nation, grasp the theory and development of contemporary Chinese and foreign administration, and possess the practical investigation skills. It aims to foster the senior personnel who can be qualified for the administrative management work which is in government sectors, social organizations, enterprises and public institutions, higher learning institutions, news and cultural institutions and research department as well as the teaching and research work in administrative management.

Main Courses: Principles of Political Science, the History of Chinese and External Political Thought, Contemporary Political Methodology, Policy Principles and Analysis, Administrative Management, Administrative Jurisprudence, Human Resource and Management, Comparative Public Administration, Civics, Organization Theory, Management Psychology, Management Information System, Administrative Case Analysis, the Thought of Chinese Public Administration, and others.

Urban Management

Training Objective: This major is designed to foster the comprehensive professional personnel who possess international vison, profound theoretical basis, professional knowledge in urban planning and management, and be familiar with city public affairs governance.With the basic methods, means and skills in contemporary urban planning, construction and management, the professionals can engage in city construction and regional cooperation, habitat environmental governance, the development and regeneration of the city, community management and service, and the research of relevant policies and regulations in the department of city construction and management, urban social organizations, relevant enterprises and public institutions, scientific research and other departments.This major is a “3+1” teaching cooperate project with the University of Glasgow in Britain whose urbanology ranks fifth in Britain. The length of the education is 4 years, with 3 years in Nankai University and 1 year in the university of Glasgow ubanology subject. The graduates are granted by Management bachelor’s degree in Nankai University.

Main Courses:

Nankai University: Urban Politics, Principles of Political Science, Urban Sociology, Public Management, Public Policy, Modern Economics, Fundamental of Urban Planning, Urban and Regional Economics, Public Finance and Budget, Modern Government Theory, the Technology and Method of Urban Management and others.

University of Glasgow: Research Method of Urbanology, the Ideology and Values of Urbanology, Policy Analysis and Evaluation, Urban Policy and others.

Project Requirement:

1. After attending the urban management subject, the students should sign the relevant agreement with the college.

2. The students should get higher grades in English. The English courses are given in small class. In the second semester of Grade 2, students should attend IELTS. The student can go to Britain continue the education in the grade 3 if he meets the entrance requirements of the University of Glasgow and has IELTS 6.5 or more (score of each single subject shouldn’t less than 6).

3. The students who can’t meet the entrance requirements of University of Glasgow due to the IELTS score can transfer to the Public Administration Subject in Grade 1 or 2. Once out, the students neither transfer back nor possess the chance to study in Britain.

4. The Students pay his own tuition fee in University of Glasgow at Grade 3 which contains 4 compulsory courses, 2 optional courses and 5-week practical courses. According to the tuition fee standards of the University of Glasgow this year, it is about £10300 per year (calculated with 20% discount). Living expenses in Britain is about £6000 per year. Furthermore, students pay the tuition fee by the tuition standards of Nankai University during the undergraduate study.

5. The students completed all the courses of the Nankai University and University of Glasgow will be awarded Management Bachelor’s Degree. Students can also apply for master's degree program in the University of Glasgow with 22% discount on tuition fee.
