Nankai University started to enroll in undergraduate studies majoring in public administration in 2001. The department of public administration offers the B.A. degree, M.A. degree and PhD degree in public administration.

The department has 31 faculty members, including 13 professors, 16 associate professors, and 2 lecturers. The faculty is strongly committed to outstanding teaching and innovative scholarship. In recent years, our faculty have published a large number of papers in top Chinese and English journals, granted by national-level projects and awarded by national-level and provincial-level academic achievements.

With the goal of having the public morality of patriotism and the ability to serve society, our department aims to cultivate senior compound talents who have Marxist theoretical accomplishment, modern public spirit, innovative consciousness and noble character, as well as master the theories and methods of modern administration section and government management systematically. Our graduates are competent in policy analysis, organization management, social service and other works in the party and government organs, public institutions, social organizations and other public departments.

As an interdisciplinary major, we introduce students to study the theories of public administration, politics and laws and receive training in the fields of public policy analysis, social survey methods, statistical analysis, foreign languages, official document writing, etc. Diversified and high-quality curriculums are offered for the students, mainly including Public Administration, Principles of Political Science, Public Policy, Administrative Ethics, Public Administration Theory, Administrative Organization Theory, Urban Management, Government Economics, Constitution and Administration, Chinese Government and Politics, Public Finance and Budget, Decision-Making Statistical Analysis, Management Psychology, Modern Government Theory, etc.

Our department also attaches great importance to the connection with relevant universities and has established a broad cooperation network with a large number of well-known colleges and departments nationally and globally.
